how Jesus stretched my faith..yet again
Jesus can be so intentional with the ideas and situations He brings before you. He knows that He gives good things and most of the time, it requires your faith to be stretched..yet again. If you’re like me, going on this journey of progressing to live the way God wants you to, welcome! If you’re not, stick around for this story I am about to share. In this post, I will talk about:
My faith before the result
Prophetic words
My faith after the result
My faith before the result
Okay, so here I am almost finishing my 1st year of graduate school and now I am looking for a job to be able to have money for the summer as well as money to pay for rent. I also have on my mind that I need to complete over 200 clinical hours by the end of my second year and desperately wanted them completed this whole summer, but I didn’t know how that was going to work out. My mind was going everywhere and I finally tried to make myself still as possible and said “God, I don’t know what to do. How will I do both at the same time? I need to be able to have money as well as get hours in.” You know what He said to me? “Jashalynn, I got it. Don’t you worry. I am your provider for a reason.”
Later in April and early May, I was applying to all kinds of jobs not knowing who would respond back, but I did my best to relinquish the control I had and gave it to Jesus.
Prophetic words
If you haven’t heard of the prophetic, I encourage you to study this in the bible. It’s all over the texts from Genesis all the way to Revelation. When you receive prophetic words, all it is, is that God is speaking through someone to be His microphone and they speak from three ways: exhortation, edification, and comfort. To give you background on this, I currently work as a math tutor for kids and I have been doing so for almost a year.
This prophetic word I received was about children. I like being around kids especially when growing up where I was a babysitter or working with the kids in the children’s ministry at church. The lady spoke to me saying “You will be working with children and will be able to obtain new levels of opportunity. Trust Him and let the Lord guide you. You will be making things exciting for the children by using music. Allow the Lord to use in that area along with other areas. Opportunities are being opened for you, but you must walk in my timing.”
When I heard that, I wasn’t sure what to think about for the future so my mind immediately went to working with the kids that I tutor, but God pushed me in a different direction. Do you remember when I said I was applying for jobs? Well a friend from grad school referred me to a lifeguarding position and I got the job! Not only did I get the job, but that I would be teaching kids how to swim! WOW! There’s more! A good friend has a nanny company that I applied to last August, but my scheduling didn’t work out. However, the same family that I applied to be with last August was the same family that I applied for this month. And guess what? I GOT THE JOB! God is so good! I was able to receive two jobs instantly.
My faith after the result
Writing now in July, I am still thankful to have two jobs (besides tutoring) because before I only had one where I was only getting about $200/month from. During university, I never truly had a job that paid a lot of money so I was always budgeting and learned how to be okay with little amounts of money.
Even though, I am using most of this money to pay for rent, I am most excited every time I get paid to tithe 10% back to God who gave me these jobs to begin with. I know that this money from my account will be taken out in September and October, but I believe that I learned a few things from this experience:
With or without a job, God is still good
I am learning how to save and invest with the money that is coming in
It’s okay to spend a couple of coins on myself (including my dog)
I don’t have to be afraid when the next time I am going to get paid just to buy groceries and pay bills.
I am still in faith that I will obtain more money this year than I ever had in my life.
I hope this encouraged you to continue to be in God’s presence and wait on the Lord. God is so excited to be with you in your life and the decisions you make. Jesus loves you and so do I!
